About the Certification:
Students Will Learn:

  • How prana (life force) and ojas (deep vitality) can be cultivated to regulate and support agni (digestive fire) for optimal health
  • A deeper knowledge of the ayurvedic maps: doshas (constitutions), gunas (psychological tendencies), vayus (winds or movement of prana), and koshas (sheaths)
  • How to adapt postures and pranayama to kindle our agni and better circulate prana for efficient energy management
  • The alchemy of yoga along with diet and lifestyle adjustments to adapt to daily, seasonal, and stage-of-life changes
  • How to identify typical constitutional imbalances and know how to address them through diet, cleansing, lifestyle, asana, pranayama, and meditation

Required Reading: Textbook of Ayurveda, Volume One: Fundamental Principles by Dr. Vasant Lad and Yoga & Ayurveda: Self-Healing and Self-Realization by David Frawley {Please note, students must purchase these books. These are not included in tuition. Both books will be used for all sessions.}

Ayurveda Yoga Specialist Training weekends:

Unit 1: TBA- Macrocosm & Microcosm of Ayurveda and Yoga with Heidi L. Audet
The AYS Unit 1 workshop is the foundation for all Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist modules, and where you’ll begin your journey of using the tools of Ayurveda and yoga to make the desires from your spiritual consciousness take form in reality. Our focus will be the 6 systems of Indian philosophy (shad darshan) that comprise the basis of Ayurveda.

Unit 2: Philosophy of Ayurveda & Physiology of Yoga with Kathryn Templeton (online course- course to be taken preferrably before Unit 3.  Access code given when registered for program.)
In AYS Unit 2, you will learn the technical aspects of the bio-pscyho-spiritual connections in Ayurveda. Our primary focus will be on the architecture of the mind, its energies (gunas), and the body-mind’s vital essences (prana, tejas, ojas). We’ll dig deep into asana, pranayama, and meditation from the sub-dosha perspective of Ayurveda.

 Unit 3: TBA- Improving Our Digestion of Foods, Thoughts, and Actions with Heidi L. Audet
In AYS Unit 3 you will put the historical and technical knowledge from AYS 1 and 2 to work in body, thought, emotional and psychological practices. We’ll look closely at factors affecting digestion and assimilation in the body and the mind and
practices to regulate our physical, mental, and spiritual digestive fires (agnis).

Unit 4: TBA- Clinical Use of Ayurveda and Yoga with Sarah Guglielmi 

In AYS Unit 4 we will apply the science of the first 3 Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist (AYS) courses in the context of clinical use with training clients.
We’ll review physiology, psychology, Ayurvedic treatment plans, dinacharya, lifestyle, and subtle body practices of yoga, and you will be introduced to the use of tongue and pulse diagnosis with individuals.

Upon completion of this module, 200-hour trained yoga teachers will graduate as a Certified Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist. This NAMA recognized Aurvedic education will work as a wrap-around to your existing yoga teaching business and an extension to teaching students in a one-on-one setting.

Note: Sessions 1, 2 and 3 can be taken as independent workshops. They do not have to be taken in order. All four sessions are required for certification. Certification is granted only to those students who are 200hr yoga teachers from an accredited YTT program. Certiificate of completion will be given to those not certified yoga teachers who complete the program.

About the Instructor: Heidi L. Audet, ERYT-500, AHC, has enjoyed working for over 21 years in the public education sector, 13 years as a Special Olympics Coach, and 19+ years as a middle school field hockey coach.  As an educator, Ms. Audet has worked with adults, special needs children and alternative education students in a myriad of educational settings. Having received training in nutritional education and Ayurveda, Heidi brings a special focus to these areas in the Color Me Yoga Foundations Training Program. YIN YOGA is a quiet, meditative practice that works on all levels of the being.  In Yin Yoga, floor postures are held passively for several minutes in order to access the deep layers of connective tissue. Physically, Yin Yoga helps us to open our bodies and to restore and maintain range of motion in the joints.  Energetically, it opens the body's meridian system, enhancing the energetic flow. Through its emphasis on stillness and silence, Yin Yoga prepares both the body and the mind for deeper experiences in meditation.  (No previous yoga experience is required. Beneficial for all body types, including those with joint issues. )

YOGA NIDRA is a specific type of guided relaxation which leads you through connection with the 5 sheaths of your being (physical, prana/energy, emotional, mental, and bliss bodies). They get damaged and displaced by the traumas we experience in our lives, and the superconscious state of yoga nidra helps us to heal and reintegrate them. It is essentially the yogic version of a shamanic soul retrieval. The superconscious state of yoga nidra has been shown to accelerate healing and learning.

You will emerge from this special experience with a deep sense of peace and well-being, rejuvenated, feeling connected and ready to share your divine Self!

Please bring a piece of paper with 7 intentions you wish to manifest written on it. Wear comfy stretchy clothing for gentle movement. We have props at the studio but you may like to bring your own mat & blanket (personal sacred space).

It is important for us to encapsulate this sacred space and not have people trickling in late. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to settle in and if it's your first time at the studio to fill out paperwork.

PARKING: If you can't find parking right in front of the studio on Lisbon Street, MAKE A LOOP by taking the left onto Ash (usually a couple spots here), then left onto Canal (parking garage), a left onto Pine where there are usually several spots, and then left back onto Lisbon St. The garage and all metered spots are free after 6pm.

Julie Gammon loves holding sacred space for all those who wish to walk with her on this amazing path, and assisting you to create spaciousness within your whole Being: body, mind, energy & spirit. She is a Yoga/Self Care/Stress Reduction Instructor, a Yoga Nidra guided specialist, a Licensed Massage and Bodywork therapist, a Thai Bodywork practitioner & instructor with over 300 hrs of advanced certification from the US and Thailand.

Kim Nixon is passionate about sharing the healing potential of gentle movement, meditation, and breathwork. She truly believes that yoga is for EVERY body and reflects that in her teaching style. She describes yoga as “powerful medicine.” Kim has been practicing yoga for 10 years, doing massage and energetic bodywork since 2009, and teaching yoga since 2012. She recently received her 500 hour Advanced Yoga Teacher certification and has plans for ongoing studies in Yin Yoga.

This transition time from Winter to Spring is the perfect opportunity to rejuvenate and revitalize from the inside out, while keeping allergies, colds and flu at bay.

Fat burning is natural in spring, and we can reset our ability to metabolize fat, the natural source of detoxifying and stabilizing fuel, in a calm manner.

At the Big Spring Cleanse Retreat, you will learn:
