Once a month, Chill offers a free yoga class to the community. Come and try different styles each month!

 

*Baby & Me Yoga-Heidi Audet/Debra Hallowell (call to register)-

What better way to bond with your newest family member than with a gentle, loving and connected yoga practice?  Baby and Me yoga is for new moms and dads and babies 5 weeks to crawling. Yoga helps post-partum moms regain flexibility, strength, improve posture and enhances stamina.(Dates for fall: 10/30, 11/27-no class on Christmas, sorry!) A yoga practice also can help both moms and dads  discover balance in the "new parent" routine. Gentle massage techniques and baby yoga postures help babies with digestion and can assist in activating the parasympathetic nervous system's relaxation response.
Bring a soft towel and/or baby blanket for your baby to lay on during the practice.

For toddlers 18 months to 36 months and parent/caregiver. Cost- $10-$15 sliding scale fee. Enjoy bonding time through toddler yoga, songs, and games. A short, well rounded class that is also good for beginners. A nice in-between class that will have more strength building & standing poses as well as gentle postures. Those recovering from injuries, with limited mobility, seniors or those wanting a mostly restful practice, this class is for you. *Yin Yoga & Meditation- Kimberly Allen

Give yourself time to slow down into stillness. Yin yoga is the opportunity to let your muscles relax and bring healing into the connective tissue and joints. Yin yoga is a blend of yoga postures, the meridian system from Traditional Chinese Medicine and the stillness practice of Buddhism. This class creates a balance for those that practice more vigorous forms of yoga, for those that suffer from joint pain, and for those that are willing to go deep. Suitable for beginners to more experienced practitioners.

*Ashtanga Fundamentals II (Int./Adv.)  - Heidi (No class 12/25/17)
Mondays 5:30 PM - 6:45 PM- Chill Yoga

This 75-minute practice moves your Ashtanga Yoga practice from the basics of breath and movement found in Fundamentals I and continues with learning about Drishti (meditative gazing point) and Bandhas (locks, or energetic engagements). Take your Ashtanga practice outside the box in this breath-powered, medium-flow yoga class suitable for seasoned yogis of other traditions, beginners who have completed Fundamentals I and for experienced intermediate Ashtanga practitioners looking to get out of the rut of routine, release old habitual patterns and recapture the essence of the practice.  (Pre-requisite: Students must have practicing knowledge of the Primary Standing Sequences, have been through Ashtanga Fundamentals I and be in good physical condition.  Note: This class can be physically demanding.)

  • If you struggle with joint issues, aches and pains, this might help clear that up.
  • If you have felt stuck in either yoga poses or other training, this might help you get off of the plateau.
  • If you are interested in learning more about fascia and the meridians of Traditional Chinese Medicine, then this is a good way to begin to experience them directly.

Hatha yoga is a very traditional style of yoga stemming from the Kerala region of India. It follows a beautiful sequence of 12 master poses, ordered in such a way to calm and strengthen the mind and body. It incorporates a cleansing and meditative aspect in each class and is designed to truly make lasting change in one’s body and mind when practiced regularly. The beauty of Hatha yoga is that it can be practiced and enjoyed by beginners and advanced students alike, each asana having the ability to be modified to suit each student's personal practice. *Vinyasa Yoga for Health & Fitness I/II (Season Beg/Int.)-Heidi

This special series for health and fitness will be lead by Heidi. Each class begins with 30 minutes of vinyasa flowing yoga blending elements of Tai Chi, DanceYOGA(tm) Yoga Trance Dance, Tri Yoga Flow, Warrior Series, and Shiva Rea's Advanced Vinyasa. Class continues with a 15-minute workout on specific muscle groups, and concludes with deep relaxation. This vinyasa class is a Level I/II and is suitable for most seasoned beginners who have taken Vinyasa Yoga for H&F Level I, and intermediate yoga practitioners.  FAll 2017 Session: 10/3, 10/10, 10/17, 10/24, 10/31, 11/7, 11/14, 11/21, 11/28, 12/5, 12/12, 12/19, 12/26. Holiday season got you stressed? Come and enjoy a 3-week sampler class with Karin to move and release the tension! This Bikram Style Hot Yoga class is a series of simple Hatha Yoga postures done in a heated room. The heat allows for a deeper range of motion and is cleansing and detoxifying. Every class follows a set series of poses working through the entire body. While the postures are simple, the heat and sequence make it an intense workout that increases cardiovascular stamina. The emphasis is on breathing and proper alignment. The repeated sequence provides continuing students a chance to catch changes and nuances in their practice. Designed for all levels of practice. I suggest bringing a water bottle and towel to class. Be prepared to sweat!  A change of clothes is also recommended. Ashtanga Yoga is a traditional style of Yoga comprising of dynamic poses combined with deep breathing. It’s a challenging practice which realigns, tones and strengthens your body while developing concentration, steadiness and relaxation for your mind.  It is the original Vinyasa style of Yoga. This class welcomes beginners and intermediate practitioners to learn the correct sequencing and individual modifications.  You will learn how to make the practice your own. Level 1: Novice/Some Experience Form, flow, breathing exercises and muscle group practice. (Stretch and tone.) Perfect for a beginner who prefers more movement programs to seated holds, and for those with yoga experience looking for a slightly more vigorous practice than a gentle beginners. Other levels are demonstrated each week so students may progress at their own pace.

Try this Beginner-focused Vinyasa Flow class that incorporates elements of Tri-Yoga, Iyengar-influenced seated postures, and Dynamic and Static Stretch sequences. Increased flexibility, clarity of mind and restorative relaxation are just a few of the benefits gained from practicing Beginner Vinyasa Flow. Modifications provided for those with wrist, knee, shoulder and back issues.

This is an ongoing class providing students with a strong foundational basis for all Ashtanga or Vinyasa type classes. We will focus on co-ordinating alignment and breathwork to activate increasing levels of steadiness and ease within the body. This is a good place for beginners and anyone wanting to begin a regular practice.

This class continues to build upon the basics covered in the Ashtanga Fundamentals I class. There will be a strong focus on linking breath to movement, and developing familiarity with the bandhas. All of which contribute to releasing old patterns held within the body. The sequencing will be based upon the Ashtanga Primary series, and it’s a great class for those with an existing practice who wish to delve deeper, or for anyone who wants to learn the Primary Series.

*Restorative Yoga-Leigh Oleson

Join Leigh for a morning Restorative Yoga Practice!
In restorative yoga, props are used for support the body so that you can hold poses for longer, allowing you to open your body through passive stretching. The postures are usually adapted from reclined or seated yoga poses with the addition of blocks, bolsters, and blankets to eliminate any unneeded straining. Restorative classes are very relaxing and a good complement to more active yoga practices. Restorative yoga helps you to unwind and relax leaving you feeling open and refreshed, ready to take on the weekend!

Intermediate/Advanced Practice

Ashtanga Fundamentals III breaks down asana and may introduce 2nd series poses of Ashtanga.  This intermediate/advanced practice is for those who have had a steady and strong Primary Series practice and are in good physical condition.  Not for beginners or novices to Ashtanga. Cost: $15 drop-in, 10 & 20 class passes, and Chill Yoga Monthly Unlimited Members.
NOTE: Class generally meets a minimum First Saturday of the month.

*Ashtanga-Full Primary Series- Heidi Audet/ Diane Handler Saturdays, 8:30AM-10:00AM (2x's a month)- Chill Yoga

Open your eyes to a whole new Saturday morning!  Heidi and Diane will be your conductors on this vigorous train ride through the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga.  They will guide you through the many poses from the seated series, and take your view of the world in a different direction with the finishing sequences (backbends, shoulder stands, head stands, etc.). Expect occasional side trips of exploration into second series.  Class closes with shivasana.

Practice the tools to help with relaxation and calming the mind to bring you to a deeper sense of self.
Each month, Heidi will guide you in breathing practices known as Pranayama meant to clear the nadis (nerve channels), calm the mind and prepare you for guided meditation practice.
No prior experience necessary. Dates: 
1/27, 2/24, 3/24, 4/28
Cost: $15 drop-in, $12 student/senior drop-in; Chill Yoga Class passes holders welcome.
